What is

Food and Health Adventures?

This is a place to explore ideas for enjoying delicious whole foods and lifestyle changes which may help you feel more alive, energetic and engaged with your life.

I happen to have type 2 diabetes and decided to change the way I cook and eat, and began to move more and include more fun in my life.  I am an experienced service coordinator who had worked with seniors and individuals with disabilities yet my long hours of work and high caseload took a toll on me and I chose to get my life back into balance.  Once I changed my diet, working with my endocrinologist, I got myself off of insulin in less than a month and in less than a year lost 40 pounds. My husband Bob, who also has type 2 diabetes, lost 65 pounds and got off of his oral diabetes medications and he learned to avoid some of the foods which created digestion issues.  We took up ballroom dancing and other relaxing activities to have fun.  The whole foods diet and improved health for both of us was so rewarding that I became a certified integrative nutrition health coach through my studies at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.  You may call or email me to request a free 50 minute consultation if you are interested in working with me as your health coach.  Also, I am offering a new class/ support group this spring on Whole Foods Strategies for Weight Loss, Diabetes and Pre-Diabetes on 6 Monday nights at the Berkshire Bank, 255 Delaware Avenue, Delmar NY  12054:  April 13 and 27, May 11 and 18, and June 8 and 22.  Please contact me for details--pre-registration is required.
